All you do is use a long shutterspeed, (10 seconds), then quickly close your hood around the 7 second mark. :)





Another way to get this without capturing the closing motion trails is to leave the shutter open longer, use the "black hat" method...



Get your exposure with the hood open, then put a black hat (or something enough to block the light) over the lens without bumping the camera, close the hood, then move the black hat away for the rest of the exposure.



Can also be done with 2 half-power bursts from a flash in complete darkness.
