As with much of this enterprise a lot comes down to personal taste.

I like to use foam applicators for just about everything. They`re totally safe, work very well, are cheap and easy to maintain.

Microfiber and terry cotton applicators also work very well. If you`re using a cutting polish or cleaner and you want a little more aggressiveness than you get with foam, microfiber and cotton terry give more "bite".

You`ll want separate applicators for every product plus a couple spares.

PC definitely hit it right on the head...it comes down to personal preference as well as what type of product you are using.

If applying by hand (LSP or prep), I like to use the "Polishing Pal". Nice even pressure, great ergonomics, and most importantly --> allows me to switch my pad types...black pad for LSP and white pad for light polishing such as AIO/SEPC/VM (Any moderate-to-serious paint defects calls for at least a DA).

However I apply some waxes (mainly Meg`s #26 paste) with a plain-jane yellow round foam pad. The top of this wax container is too small to get a big applicator in and the product won`t "slip" out so you can you use a DA --> of course you could use a bread knife to spread, but I digress...

Anyways, good luck and keep on waxin`,
