Well i was wondering what would be best to clean off tire rubber from paint from burnouts? my buddy has some really good and stuck on rubber and wants to know what would be best.

WD40. It practically falls right off. The number biggest mistake you can make is to scrub at it with stiff towels, brushes, etc. You will just scratch the heck out of your paint. Spray the WD40 on there, and then lightly wipe it off with clean towels. Once it`s all gone, wash the area and reapply your protectant.

In the future, if you are going to to the track or something, spray some Pam on those areas behind the tires and it won`t let the rubber stick in the first place.

Awesome I had this same exact question. Will this work for road tar as well?

You can try, but I don`t *think* so. Tar is totally different and a lot harder to remove. I believe a lot of people like Stoner`s Tarminator (spell?). If you do a quick search for tar removers, you should find some interesting discussions.

Ya i thought so. I have some (forget the brand) "Bug and Tar Remover" I used on my exhaust but had to scrub as well, something I don`t know if I would want to do with my paint.

I`ll have to pick up some Tarminator and see if it works better.

WD-40 works for removing tar; I do it all the time. I spray the spot, let soak for a minute or two, then GENTLY wipe away with a soft towel. If any remains, simply repeat. Sometimes if it is a big enough blob, it may take several passes to remove it all. Better to remove it in layers if needed than get too aggressive. Tar oftentimes has gravel with it, and I don`t like the thought of scrubbing it away and grinding in gravel. WD-40 will melt it away. When done, wash area, and reapply wax/sealant.

Wow, what a great tip, thanks!! I use a pair of drag radials at the strip and hate the crud that gets packed in after a run through the water box. I can`t wait to try this next time.

I`m loving this place more every time I come here.....and that`s a daily occurrance now!

I always reach for the Autoglym Tar and Adhesive remover, wipes straight off.
