So I burned the paint on our Tahoe last Christmas (too much egg nog!). The good news is… I got the scratch out!!!!

We covered the blemish with a sticker pin stripe, but after a few months the sticker started peeling, and basically started to look like sh**.

Last weekend we had a local pin-striper come to our house. He normally doesn’t do house calls, but knows my neighbour. This guy has 30 years of experience and paints free hand –no template, tape, etc.. It’s really something to see. Unfortunately he would not allow me to take photos during his work, but let me tell you, it is a skilled trade. He said it took him 2-3 years to learn his art. It took him about an hour to stripe the truck, and about a ½ hour to look at my problem area and come up with a few alternatives to mask the blemish.

Here is a picture of the blemish, after I de-stripped the Tahoe.

A few shots after the new stripe was painted.

Nice choice on the color...It matches the whole Z71 theme.

Truck looks great John. Did he prep the areas with Prepsol? How long til you rewax?

Pinstriping is one thing that still blows me away. The patience and control they have with that little horse hair brush is amazing.

This guy uses squirrel hair brushes. He said a brush typically lasts a year, and he had several in various states of wear. As they become worn the hair tip becomes finer, and he uses these for custom monograms.

He soaks them in transmission fluid to keep them lubed up -no kidding.

I`m not sure what he used to prep -but I made him use a microfiber vs. the paper based cloth he pulled out :)

How long did it til I rewax...... I`ve been polishing it out for about a month because it`s been garage bound since Michael has been on summer break. Next week it`s getting sealed and waxed. I wanted to prep the surface well before he came out to paint the stripe. Hell, I had so many layers on it that I`m sure the stripe didn`t have a hope in hell of bonding to the surface.
