Had the afternoon off due to some inclement weather so I gotsa looking up close and personal in my interior. I noticed some gunk that Q-tips and brushes couldn`t touch, so I popped off my dash vent to discover this...

Notice the glass from my rear windshield break in :(

After this I popped off the climate vents and speaker grilles and proceeded to soak them in warm water with a little APC. I then lightly agitated and rinsed. The interiors of the vents got hit with a similar APC mix then some 1z Cockpit Premium.

Much better :). I suggest this quick cleaning to anyone and everyone. A friend of mine mentioned it could be good for allergies as well as odors. I agree.

That`s a good idea.

Does your car have an air filter for the climate control system? I know my old truck didn`t have one and sometimes I`d kick the system on and have stuff blow out of the air vents at me from my oak trees.

Is there ever going to be an end to your eternal search for the perfect detail??? LOL, just kidding. Unbelievable what you find in those little hidden areas.

I don`t believe there is an air filter in this car and it kind of shows :). I just have peace to know that when the sun hits my vents now, it`s clean in there.

Nothing but the work of a diehard Autopian! :2thumbs:. I`m wondering if that car has a cabin filter which may really need to be changed. If it does, it may be behind the glove block housing, at least that`s where I thought it was on some Honda Accords. Do you have a shop manual? Even a Chiltons?

Bill: I think its this bad because I was out of AC for 2 years (long story) and rode with the windows down for 2 summers straight. Its just like a convertible...grime gets everywhere! I will check on that though.

There are cabin filter retrofit kits out there for a lot of cars that didn`t originally come with one from the factory. I know Ford offers them for some of their vehicles and I would imagine it is probably the same for other manufacturers.

Makes you wonder what all that junk is we`re breathing.

I know I have an "in cabin" filter. It`s behind the glove box, so I`m guessing it`s the same for other Hondas. I think I`m suppose to change it every year....Mine`s the original. :o

I`m a little scared to pull my vent covers now. :scared:

I had the cabin filter changed on my Civic at 30,000 miles. Like mentioned, it is behind the glovebox.

How did you pop off the vents? Just "yank" them out?

A small flat head screwdriver did the job. Just be careful not to chip it.
