I just got my rear rotors replaced and the rain rusted the center hub. What can I do to deal with this problem? I was thinking of using some high temp paint to paint the center hub since the brakes don`t come in contact with it. Has anyone done this and if so what paint did you use? Where?

twopu, yep, the only option is to use a high temp paint. The cast iron will rust with in minutes without a coating. You should be able to get suitable paint from any Auto store. Good luck.

Yeah, I sanded the area clean of rust and applied 3 coats of Duplicolor caliper paint. I did this on all four rotors.

Last time I swapped rotors I got ones that were powder coated, 2 years later they still look good.

my rotors, after I painted the calipers. :

a friend on another forum who painted the calipers , then did the inside of the rotors:

She used "plasticote universal black" engine enamel #203 for this. She`s done some road racing and really heated these babies up, with no problems.

You can check out some more pics on my web page: click on "calipers"

Tremclad rust paint - comes in many colors and holds up very well. I`ve had my rotors painted silver for 3-4 years now and no problems.

Hey all first post for me, all the way from Australia.

I painted mine with VHT brake paint (am re-doing with 2pak though as it lasts better) to match the wheel colour and the calipers in 2 pak blueprint to highlight them. Calipers still look great and Its been raced on the track with street/track pads (read:lots of heat)

Same here .. works fine .. you can do 3 coats one right after another if you flash the previous coat with a hair dryer ..

This sounds like a really good idea....I am gonna do this! My rear Hub is rusted to crap and doesnt look very good through my 5 spokes.

When I got my new rotors, I went and had them zinc plated. A bit more expensive than paint, but they look great, and hold up very well! This can only be done when the rotors are brand new though.

I used G2 Caliper Paint on the calipers. It`s also a two part system, paint and hardener. I used plain old Duplicolor Caliper Paint on the rotors.
