Menzerna revisited

I`ve not used IP/FP for over a year now as I felt that they were hard products to work with (by comparison to the SSR range in particular) but I pulled my garage queen into direct sunlight yesterday and :eek: swirl city - I tried RMG/YCM to no avail so I stepped back and figured ***???



Then I realised that I`ve probably been using a LOT of product combos on my paint and maybe I needed to start from scratch so....



Tonight I clayed and broke out the Menzerna. Applied IP with a combination of Megs yellow/LC white and Sonus DAS blue



I was very happy with the initial gloss and decided to try SRP via Megs beige on the bonnet/hood and WOW :bounce 2 ultra thin layers later I`m a happy boy.



The SRP`s worked so well via PC (and crucially better IMHO than Carlack 68) - goes on thin, wipes straight off a cynch.



Only done this to bonnet and IP to drivers` side so far so one guess what I`ll be up to this weekend....?

Ooops - went through a few pads but with single stage paint I figured better safe than sorry:)



This is a V nice combo and I`d really recommend the 2 stage SRP method via PC as it seems to work really well, both in terms of finish, removal (especially) and the mild cleaning capabilities of SRP to "mop up" any traces of FP (which is still a b**ch to remove if you don;t catch it just right)

Looks great Andy, Also prefer the SRP to Carlack by PC, The PC allows you to work it away to nothing in ultra thin coats.



Hoping to the PC the Clio for the first time this weekend, and will be using SRP in the detail.

I think many people will agree that if you can afford or find the PO85RD, go with it. I just tried it out and its definetly a lot better than FP. The gloss is higher and the clarity went up too.

Thanks guys - Rich it`s that easy. Use a finishing pad (I used the beige Megs) and like you say work it into almost nothing, leave for 5 minutes and wipe down.

Anyone in the UK have any Menzerna PO85RD they`d be prepared to let me have a sample of?

I used the polishing pad ( Sonus SFX white) with the AG and that worked really well.

Yes I agree with this, and I very nearly bought some from Ranney a few weeks ago, however the order was too much i didn`t want to spend my money once again!



I definatly need a good polish, I may just plump for the PO85RD, thanks.

Rich, Andy, how does SRP/Carlack compare by hand application

I`d say Carlack`s easier by hand and SRP better by PC. I found the Carlack clogged on the pad and was a sod to remove both on a polishing and finishing pad whereas SRP just glides on real thin and wipes straight off. I`ll post some pics from last night later (3 x SRP & 2 x WG).



The downside I found is that WG streaks more over SRP than WG - but this may be down to the low temparature when I finished last night (9pm).



Overall, Carlack by hand, SRP by PC with SRP having the edge in terms of application and final result.



Long answer to a simple question!!



PS this is my revelation product - having kinda ignored SRP in favour of various other products/methods, I`ve found that it`s a real surprise by PC - easily the easiest way to achieve a seriously deep shine!

Pics update - these are all after 3 layers of SRP via PC and 1 WG by hand. First 2 straight on/off and 3rd was left to sit for about an hour before removal.



SRP applied via beige Megs pad at around speed 2 - nice n easy :D

PC`d the car -



Used Speed glaze and a polishing pad, 2 passes and a coat off SRP by polishing pad, almost all the swirls in the paint where gone then some RMG with a finishing pad. Topped that with some Signature for now as I wanted to use the car, and have not PC`d the roof, tailgate or lower panels yet so there was no point in going to the sealant layering yet. What effect have the multiple passes of SRP had? May do another couple when I do the rest off the PC`ing next weekend?



I mirror your results in Steven`s question, carlack 68 is much better by hand wipe on wipe off, it seems to dry to quickly by PC too. Where as the SRP can be worked till its almost gone and hardly any removal.



Wolfgang has streaked for me over a few different bases if the tempreture isnt right.



May go back to EX on the clio when the polishing is all done.
