Hey guys, well its really the plastic body work around my side-view mirrors. The silver paint that has always been protected by wax or sealant is getting funky looking.

Its has a splotchy look of different colors of silver. I thought I might be alone with this problem but I just came accross a Nissan with gold paint on its mirrors that was turning brown in splotches.

Whats causeing this and can it be repaired. I thouht I get some input before I get out the PC and pads.

Hard to tell without pics, but I have noticed and have discussed here before that some plastic mirrors, spoilers, bumper covers tend to lose paint more than the rest of the car. Whether it is due to plasticizers added to the paint on these more flexible parts or a thermal conductivity issue with the plastic, they seem to be more sensitive, particularly on darker colored cars. My medium dark blue car has CC failure on the body-color mirrors and spoiler, while the rest of the car doesn`t (yet).
