Removing Klasse

Hi all, newbie here (but I`ve been lurking a while). What a marvelous place!



So after washing, cleaning, polishing, and waxing my recently-acquired black 2002 Boxster S, I gingerly applied Klasse SG. But I guess I didn`t apply it gingerly enough because the whole car looks a bit dull. I`ve read about leaving the sealant on longer, which I`ll be happy to do next time `round but, in the meantime, what do I use to take of the Klasse sealant?

Not sure by what you mean "a bit dull"...but, if you want to remove the SG layer all you need to do is to apply some AIO and then you can start over.

Thanks for the speedy response. gotta admit my ignorance - what`s AIO?



(I think you may need a lexicon here for a lot of acronyms we newbies stumble over)

Go to the Autopia Home page, top left corner labeled Main Menu ... click on "Secret Decoder Ring" ....



Also, as you`ll see, AIO is Klasse`s All-In-One chemical cleaner. It is often used as the step prior to Klasse SG.

In my limited experience i would say that the problem is trying to apply SG over wax.





SG is a synthetic sealant and will not bond to wax, but you can apply wax after SG.

This is Klasse AIO followed by only 1 layer of SG. Use them in the correct order and they work wonders.

Just remember you cannot put it on thin enough!

Really? I had read a thread on a Porsche website where the poster said he used Megs NXT Tech Wax followed by KSG for a great shine on his black Boxster.

Nxt tech wax is also synthetic, not a true wax

The key to using SG is to apply it ultra thin. More so than you may think. You will barely be able to see it on the paint after you apply it and upon curing, you can even use your breath to help buff it off ( thanks Accumulator).



Since so little is required it`s quite economical.

Sorry for any misunderstanding, if you used NXT tech wax you should be able to use SG, if on the other hand you used a genuine wax then i think you could have problems.



BTW, if you do use AIO to remove SG it will also remove the tech wax.

A good wash with a few squirts of AIO into a bucket o` water will get everything off.
