I detailed a black Ford Explorer the other day when I noticed small star like cracks (for lack of a better description) in the paint on the last front quarter panel that I did. I stared the job using DACP with a yollew pad followed by AIO with a white pad (used on a porter cable buffer). When I pulled the vehicle out into the sun I was horrified to see these tiny little cracks in the paint on the left front quarter panel. I truely did not see them before I started the job. My question to all, is this something that I could have done using the above process???

Hard to tell without a pic, but it sounds like you`re out of paint. Is it single stage or basecoat/clearcoat?

I believe it has a basecoat and clear coat (it was a 1198 Ford Explorer)

Have any idea if the Explorer has been compounded/polished in the past? I suspect they were there before you started and your polishing steps just made them especially visible.
