When you detail an engine bay, what do use to make the rough-cast aluminium heads look good after cleaning them?

I was thinking applying some silicone based dressing may make it look a bit less matt. Would that cause any issues?

Has anyone found something more successful? :nixweiss

CD2 detailer might be the answer if you can find it anywhere- rumor is that its been discontinued

Sand them down and polish them :nixwiess

I hate this material in engine bays. It`s so ugly.

Just tried the CD2 engine detailer the other day. A bit too glossy for my tastes but, seems to dull down if you wipe it down a bit before it cures. It does hide the white chalkiness that cast aluminum gets. It is available just about everywhere here, maybe they just haven`t run out of stock yet?????

I like to paint `em (engine enamel) if I have the time/money/desire to do so (painted em on my mom/dads cars, I would paint them on any show detail, with the owners approval), otherwise they just get dressed with either dressing if I spray down the bay, or AIO if I`m being picky.
