How well does 50% water/woolite work for removing sand and salt in carpets? I would like something that I can pickup from Target and use in with an upright hoover carpet cleaner.

I would say 50% is WAY TOO MUCH!!!!! I only mix it at 6 parts water to 1 part woolite. So that would be 6 oz. water to 1 oz. woolite. I would think 50% would foam way too much even in a cleaner.

So aside from the ratio I shouldn`t have trouble? I`m thinking of the following process.

1. Vacuum the crud up

2. Woolite/water mix sprayed on surface, allow to sit a couple minutes.

3. Agitate with nylon brush.

4. Extract with clean warm water.

That should work out great! If you have any really soiled spots, eg. spilled juice or any color stain, you might want to try a carpet spot remover.

Try the woolite mix first and see what you think.
