hot or cold water?

For removing stains on carpets, what water tempeature is best?

Does it depend on the stain? For example, for blood I heard cold is best, but wouldn`t you want hot water when cleaning oil or dirt stains?

Hotter is better, IMHO. I`ve seen pretty serious diffirences in cleaning ability when I ran my LGCM off of hose water, as opposed to 180* water.
