I`ve recently gotten back into automotive detailing and a trip to the Atlanta Car Show today got me thinking about undertaking a a complete, from scratch re-detail of my 2003 dark Shadow Grey Mach 1 Mustang. That is I want to strip all the old products off and give the finish as much protection, depth, and shine as possible.

I have previously used the complete Zaino system and Meguiars NXT on the car and have been pleased but, seeing as I`m running low on those products, I want to try/experiment with others and possibly pick up a PC in the near future.

Some background: The car is primarily used for weekends, special occasions, car shows, and IS NOT a daily driver -- it is never kept outside, is always garaged in a climate controlled area, and is covered when detailing is finished. The finish has some light swirling as is expected and some mineral deposites/etching into the surface. Nothing serious though other than a few small scratches that you really have to look for to find.

Basically I`m looking for suggestions as to what order and what products I should follow?? Below is what I`m trying to achieve:

1-Stripping off the old waxes/polishes/sealers as well as surface

contamination. I would wash, clay, and use paint cleaner at this stage.

2-Removing light swirls, scratches, and excess mineral deposites. This is where I would use the PC + a product like megs 84.

3-Sealing the finish.

4-adding a topper like a high grade carnuba to add depth to the finish.

Is this a basic breakdown of the process or did I miss a step? Also, please feel free to suggest products to accomplish this.

Some pics to give you an idea of the cars current condition:

Damn, that looks amazing for Ford paint.

Also, use some 303 on the tires. Spray some QD over it after waxing.

Thanks -- that`s the kind of response I was looking for. Just out of curiousity why use the Klasse Chemical Cleaner after the machine polish? What does chemical cleaner remove?

Looks good man!

Just don`t forget to clay as everyone seems to be suprised at how much it can pull of even a covered car`s paint.

Good luck at the shows!

Correct me if I`m wrong, but I think the Klasse AIO will remove all the things that came before it (all traces of them).
