In the past, I had always left my tire gel applicator upside down (with the foam side touching the table surface) so that the side with the product wouldn`t get it all over the table. Well I found myself using more product because all the gel migrated to the bottom of the applicator thanks to gravity. Also, the foam would get greasy from the product that always seeped out.

Here`s what the spot on the table looks like after all the times I left the applicator there...

I wanted to leave the applicator face down so that the product would stay on the usable side, and I wouldn`t use as much product, but I didn`t want it to seep into the table. So here`s my solution...

I made a small "tray" out of aluminum foil to allow me to put the applicator face down, and the product won`t seep into aluminum. Also, the product will remain on the usable side of the applicator. I can usually grab the applicator and dress a whole tire before adding any product to the foam.

What do you guys use for this problem? Or do you rinse out the applicator after every use? (seems like it would be a big waste of product)

BTW I know I need a new applicator. That one`s looking a little grim. :)

that`s a pretty good idea- i just toss my tire swipe in a cardboard box

I use a EO swipe. I store it in a zip lock bag. I just grab the swipe and turn the zip lock bag inside out so that its like a glove on my hand and go to town on my wheels.

I was using the EO swipes but I found that the foam is stiffer on those, and it didn`t allow me to get the gel into the fancy ribbed sidewalls of some tires. The softer foam on the Black Magic ones seem to fit the contour of the tire very nicely too since they`re quite flexible.

after each use... i take a towel and put the yellow foam facing up and press down firmly to get all the remaining tire dressing out, so it doesn`t stay saturated and thus won`t deteoriate quicker and leak any tire dressing.

That seems like you`d waste a lot of product that way. The WG gel says that it is 100% biodegradable and won`t eat away at foam applicators.

i don`t like to have a tire swipe still saturated/wet when i`m done using it (it`s a mess and i`m not fond of gels anyway). as far as wasting product.... i put enough on the tire swipe to where there`s barely any dressing left afterwards.
