Using the rotary.. do you guys cover trims, lights, and parts you dont want polished/buff with masking tape before doing the job?

Also, for hard to reach places like aero dynamic bumpers, you want polished, do you guys just do it by hand?

I heard someone using Mr.Clean Magic Eraser to remove the wax on the trim. Might be easier than tape the entire car. I havent try it yet, but I will.

Masking the trim only takes a few minutes and saves you the hassle of trying to removing wax in the wrong places later.

Not to mention you can just use the machine without worrying about staying away from trim. Just make sure you use the right masking tape.

As for hard to reach areas, hand is best unless you need a machine to fix some problems.

What is the right masking tape. Conventional 3M painter tape (for inhouse use) or there is a special car tape.

3M is fine.

I also use plastic trash bags. I open the hood and place two bags flat to cover the windshield and close the hood. The hood weatherstriping holds the bottom of the bags secure.

I had a neighbor ask me how to get the compound off his car. He used DACP over the entire car in the sun and it was everywhere, total mess to clean up.
