My transmission failed, so I had to take it out, and while doing that got ambitious and decided to remove the engine and all while I was at it. So now I have a completely open engine bay and motor etc. that I wanna polish down to look much better than they do now. What products do you recommend for harsh cleaning like on the engine block, milder cleaners for washing most eveyrhting else, and what dressings for the hoses etc.?

I use Autoglym Engine and machine cleaner and various brushes to clean, metal polish or AG Super Resin polish on the metal work, SRP on the paintwork and dress with Autoglym Vinyl and Rubber or 1z Tiefenpflege.

Since you have your engine out, you can make everything look really nice. Here is what a nearly 20 year-old engine can look like:

I usually use Autoglym`s Engine Degreaser / Cleaner and then P21S Total Auto Wash; I usually follow that with a cleaner/wax type product

I usually use simple green, but then, I do not attract crowds when I pop my hood open.

Simple Green, scrub if necessary (usually not), CD2 which is sometimes at AutoZone....works pretty good.

Awsome, thanks for the replies, and yes both those pictures look amazing. Rich, if that is your daily driver that is amazing! That`s exactly what I want it to look like. I`m gonna go to the store tomorow and see what I can find, otherwise I`m making a pretty large order soon for spring, gonna pretty much buy new everything.

Here`s a couple pics after using Simple Green by hand with terry towels, and 1Z Tiefenfleger on plastic...
