After months of waiting, it has finally happened...I cleaned my car properly!! Before I begin, I must say thanks to everyone for helping me out, without this website and a few other sources linked very closely to this website, I probably wouldn`t have been able to come close to my paint without fear and trepidation. This is how I did it:

Exterior

1-Wash w/Sonus Gloss Shampoo

2-Sonus Clay Bar

3-Wash-off clay bar residue

4-Sonus SFX-2 with Green pad and PC

5-Sonus SFX-3 with Blue pad and PC

6-AIO (also used on wheels) by hand

7-P21S by hand

8-Autoglym Instant Tire Dressing on Tires

Interior:

1-vacuum interior

2-Carpet cleaned with 303 Carpet/upholstery cleaner, then steam-cleaned

3-console, seats, and dash cleaned with Sonus Leather Cleaner

4-Sonus Total Eclipse on console and dash

5-Sonus Leather Conditioner on seats

After being cleaned, the interior looked incredible, it turned out to be slightly darker than it was before I cleaned it...just the way it was when it was new one year ago (the interior was never treated with anything)

The exterior also turned out to be very, very wet looking, especially after the application of AIO, and the P21S seemed to really make those metallic flakes pop-out, but my big mistake was that I never backed the car out of the garage to "check my work." Sadly, when I did everything mentioned above, I backed the car out to admire my work. What was revealed was lots of swirls. Now, I will have to remove P21S and AIO with Sonus Paintwork Cleanser and go from there. Here are some pics:

HOw did you like the Sonus line? DO you have any experience with other products in which to compare? I though SOnus SFX-3 was supposed to remove swirlies!

Nice work, looks good

Nice looking.

That`s not a stick is it? I didn`t believe Chrysler made one for the Crossfire.

I think that the only chrysler crossfire that didn`t come with a manual transmission as an option is the high powered srt-6. I could be wrong though. anyways, beautiful car and nice job on the detail. If you like p21s on your silver paint you`re gonna love pinnacle signature wax. It`s more wet looking and really brings out the flakes. Very very nice product.

Looks like you are headed in the right direction

You learned a very good lesson...check your work before moving on. ;)

What did you use to steam clean the carpets?

That`s a retarded move on Chrysler`s part. The only one an enthusiast would want doesn`t even come in the only tranny they`d want.

JJ: The Sonus line has a heavy chemical smell, and the SFX-3 is supposed to be a finishing polish to enhance the gloss of the paint. The SFX-2 is supposed to remove the swirls. Unfortunately, I have not used any other polishes to compare the results to...this was my first big detail, and the only thing I did before this was apply Eagle One wet wax by hand.

Holland_Patrick: I can`t wait for the NY meet...has a specific date been planned yet?

MongooseGA: My Crossfire is six-speed manual. The tranny isn`t good, though. It is nothing like an S2000! The clutch travel is too long, and the shift-action is too rubbery. If it wasn`t for the poor transmission, I would be in love with the car. The engine has good torque down low, making it quick around town. But the long-travel clutch combined with the short, rubbery throws of the stick make it diifficult to execute a smooth 1-2 shift. As for why the SRT-6 does not have a manual transmission, well, it is based on the Mercedes Benz SLK320, more specifically, the SLK32. Because Mercedes did not have a tranny to handle the power of the engine, it was given an automatic. Even Merceds Banzs` fastest car, the SLR, does not have a stick because they did not have a tranny to handle the power output of the engine.

ZaneO: I used a steam cleaner bought from Sears, I think it is called the Steam Shark. I used it after the application of 303 Upholstery cleaner to activate and then rinse away the suds. It didn`t seem to help clean anything, but I must say, the 303 really worked well!

I would also look for a decent discount from bundling other insurance needs like house, apartment, professional liability, other cars, etc.

i just used sfx-2 the other day with great results. think about if you made any errors along the way, bad towels etc.
