First up, the filth...

Bimmer is in nice shape but the rims are another story. They were purchased used and weren`t kept up too much. They had very bad etching, staining, dulling, baked on brake dust, and some isolated clearcoat failure. All in all, they don`t look terribly bad but they were definatley the hardest rims I`ve ever cleaned. I ended up spending a solid 90 mins on all 4 including the tires and wells. Final processes:

-QEW presoak

-APC presoak (full strength)

-TOL`s Wheel Wash (found out the hard way that the lip was uncoated :()

-Polished by hand with Menzerna IP

-Polished by hand with Flitz (MVP of the day!)

-BnB on tires/wells

I used an assortment of brushes, wash mitts, #0000 Steel Wool, and applicators. I did my best on these things and unfortunately they did not come out 100%, but they were much better. To comment on Flitz, it`s an all purpose chemical polish that polishes/cleans/protects all in 1 step with no abrasives. VERY similar to Klasse AIO for all of these attributes but MUCH stronger in cleaning ability. I was impressed.

Next up - 2004 Audi S4

I wash this one weekly and in the past the paint was in pretty good condition. Unfortunately I think the owner dragged the car cover around pretty bad last time it was put on. There was a lot of added marring/swirling. Overall though, the vehicle was in nice shape. Final processes:

-QEW

-Spot Clay

-Meguiar`s #80 via rotary and polishing pad @ 1200 rpm

-Meguiar`s NXT Tech Wax via rotary and polishing pad @ 900 rpm (single pass, almost no pressure)

-Meguiar`s APC (6:1) to clean wheels/tires/wells

-BnB to dress

Wow...nice work as usual! :up

Where did you purchase Flitz from?

The NXT darkened the Audi paint in the after pic...is it a metallic charcoal grey colour?

They look good Sean! What happened to the uncoated lip?

I too have always had pretty good luck with Flitz. It was one of those things I picked up at a car show and always fall back on now when I need to polish metal. I recently picked up one of the new Mothers PowerBall`s on sale for about $22 at O`Reilly Auto Parts, looks like it will be a big time saver on polishing wheels.

I thought the before of the Audi looked pretty good. Then the after was a bling bling for sure. Spectacular job.

:xyxthumbs Top notch Sean!

It`s wheels like those that I want to try a diluted acid wheel cleaner. I`ve been down the #0000 steel wool - APC soak - road all too often :(

Nice job :)

That`s after I used TOL`s Wheel Wash. I use a Home Depot Spray bottle and haven`t looked at my gallon in a while. After it stained the crap out of the lip, I ran in and looked to see "DO NOT USED ON UNCOATED ALUMINUM". On the left, you see the bad staining. I used Flitz with #0000 steel wool first, then with a foam pad on the right to clean the lip up. The lip came out GREAT when done.

I got Flitz from Ace Hardware (best deal around). I definatley need one of those polishing balls :D.

The color of the Audi is Anthracite I believe.
