what do you guys/gals use to measure the exact amount (trying not to be wasteful) of car soap, for a 5 gallon bucket (don`t know why they just don`t put a measuring cup as part of the cap)?

I don`t measure. I just slowly pour the soap until I have a silver-dollar size spot on the bottom of the bucket. This is for a 5QUART bucket though, not 5gal. I use a 5qt bucket for the wash solution, and the 5gal bucket with a GritGuard for rinsing.

I use this dispenser here that I have in all my 1 gallon products including car was soap. One pump equals 1 ounce.

Click here for dispenser (http://www.usplastic.com/catalog/product.asp?catalog%5Fname=usplastic&category%5Fname=8&product%5Fid=14731)

Works perfectly :xyxthumbs

I transfer my car wash into 2 or 3 ounce bottles with a mark at the 1/2 point. I use a 3 ounce bottle for QEW because I use 1 1/2 gallons of water, and I use two ounce bottles for the car wash where I only use one ounce. I hate trying to pour out capfuls, and the small bottles are easier to carry on a road trip where I plan to do a wash.

Another method is to use one of these bottles from PakShak, they make it easy to measure out in ounces:

Here are two sources for small bottles if you can`t find any locally (Wal-Mart, craft stores, etc.):

I pour until I`m satisfied with the amount I`ve got.

I think I use twice as much soap as I should, which is probably why my LSP`s don`t last as long as you guys say they should :hm

I use a 1 oz cup that came with some sort of liquid medicine.

I saw a very nice 2 oz (with lots of other metric measurements) cup at a garden center this weekend. I think it was OXO.

I didn`t want to cough up the $5, but it is a very cool little device.

I may have to go back and pick it up since it is about 5 blocks away.

I use a shot glass with measurements printed on the side that I bought from Wal-Mart. Then I just rinse it out with the hose into the bucket.

Some washes such as P21S and 1Z Exclusiv say to use 2-3 capfuls per "x" gallons of water. If that is the case, then I just use the caps for measuring and I always go with the higher number stated. I am willing to give up LSP durability and increase the lubrication.

I slowly pour in the amount I want. It depends how clean the car is as well...

I use the measuring thing on the bottom of the Sonax Gloss shampoo bottles for all my car wash solutions. It`s a 2oz measure and I use a two gallon bucket. Considering most washes recommend 1oz per gallon I find it particularly useful!

I use a plastic measuring ball that comes with liquid laundry detergents.
