I keep the engine compartment nice and clean but have never used anything on the hoses and rubber parts. What do people like best? I don`t want something that is either going to smoke when it get hot (!) or is a great dust collector.

Anything fit the bill?

I like meguiars #40 cut 50/50 with water or 303. Both would seem to fit your needs.

Armor All tire foam works great for me. Easy to apply, let it dry and buff off the excess.

I use Autoglym Vinyl and Rubber Care. Leave on for Gloss, wipe off for matt.

Another vote for Autoglym - seems to last a long time. The Armor-all is also a good choice

Is Autoglym available OTC?

Does ArmorAll dry enough to not collect dust?

Not sure if it is an OTC product, you can buy it from http://www.autopia-carcare.com/ag-6500.html

As for the Armorall as long as you buff correctly you should not have any problems

I buff off the excess so it doesn`t attract dust. If I left in on thick I think it would attract dust.

Ditto on the 303. Protects, optically enhances and repels dust.:up

i have used the AA tirefoam on some cars with alot of plastic under the hood such as a ls1 f-body or vette and it looks great once you wipe the excess off. but M #40 is also great in my book.

I clean it with el-cheapo Purple power 100%

then follow up with armorall tire foam.

Looks just as good as the above....
