Will Zaino bond to Clearkote VM or will I need to apply AIO first?

My thoughts are that the VM is too oily and the Z wont bond to it.

would AIO over VM do anything or does that defeat the purpose of the VM?

Yeah ... that`s kind of counter productive.

Do a search on Zaino prep and you have plenty reading material.

ive done aio/then Z2 with no problems.

And when you say bond what exactly does that mean. I mean if you use VM and then Z2 its not like the product will go on and wont stay on right. So i dont get this whole bonding thing. Does it mean that the Z2 wont last as long or that you will have trouble applying and removing the product.

I dont mind trying VM then Z2.

When I think of the bonding issue I like to simplify it for my own purposes. Think of mixing water and oil.

yeah but thats not gonna happen if you put Z2 on VM or any other product with oils/fillers on it will it?

from what i understand the oils in VM probably won`t allow the Zaino to harden correctly-maybe a better analogy would be cement-if it has too much water it might not set properly

I haven`t tried CVM and Zaino. I have done AIO/Z2 combo with satisfying results.

FWIW: I`ve tried Pinnacle PCL (an oily product) and then put Z2/ZFX (old old version) over that and was pleased with the results. From what I gather, the life of Zaino would be shortened. I think I got almost 6 months out of it (regular washing and QDing) before I noticed the bead height was "shorter" and the paint was just lacking something.

I guess someone could try it. I am sure it would look good but the oils in VM could compromise the durability of Zaino. The new Red Machine Glaze may work, silicone free and definitely far less oily the VM. :nixweiss
