I just bought a 2005 Scion tC. What precautions should I take in washing and waxing it as the paint is brand new?

White95Max is right, itâ€â„¢s perfectly safe to detail it now.
These days factory finishes are baked on and fully cured when shipped. Itâ€â„¢s only for a new re-spray finish that you need to wait.
Care for it as you would any finish.

You might want to try claying it now too. That way you`ll remove stuff like "rail dust" that can cause little rust stains later.
Read up here, especially about washing, so you don`t mar the finish.
And enjoy that new ride!
