1994 Supra Turbo

I`m rather new to Autopia, but I thought I would share with you my freshly detailed car.

Steps taken: Wash, Clay, PC 7224 with Excel Detailing pad; Meg`s #80, Meg`s #82 (big let down), topped with S100. :)



Performance/ Gauges/BOV: HKS EVC5, HKS SSBOV (in addition to stock), HKS FCD, Autometer Carbon EGT Gauge, Autometer Carbon Boost Gauge, Autometer Carbon Air/Fuel Gauge, RMM DP, Custom 3" Exhaust. FMIC coming next.

Suspension: Eibach Springs, KYB AGX Shocks, SSI Wheels (18x9, 18x10)

Body: Top Secret Bumper, Molded Varis side skirts, modified Veilside rear skirts.

Extra: Custom 1998 Headlights, Taillights, and Turn Signals, Tinted windows, Painted Calipers with Supra Decal, Clarion Headunit, Avital Alarm (with remote start and turbo timer), Custom painted metallic silver dash.

What did you use to paint those calipers, what steps did you take, those loook sweet.

As for how the calipers were done, here goes the steps.



I have painted the Calipers on my current Supra, as well as a few other Supras. I have used high temp Engine paint both times (just rattle can high temp from an auto parts store), with flawless results.



THE KEY IS PREP. I use brake parts cleaner, then sand the calipers down removing anything on the surface and then clean the calipers again. Then I tape everything off, and make sure I have everything covered that I don`t want paint on. I then use primer (rattle can) and apply 2-3 coats. I then wetsand with 600 grit. You need to make sure the paint has something to adhere to, otherwise the paint can flake off, so this step is very important.



After the primer stage, color is next! 3 coats of the color of your choice should do just fine. Make sure to let the paint dry between coats and don`t spray to thick. After it has completely dried, apply any decal you want or paint something on using a stencil. Now you are ready for the clearcoat! Again, just high temp engine paint, the color clear. Apply as many coats of clear as you want, I used 3 or 4. The surface was already free from orange peel so no colorsanding was necessary. Maybe I`m just THAT good. :)
