Which Colors are Classified as Light vs. Dark?

Well, my real question is whether red is classified as a light color or a dark color. Then of course most other colors are obvious, but there are a few that I`m not sure about. I often wonder since some polishes, or glazes specify that they are for dark colors or light colors.



I think red is classified as a dark color since it has so much pigment in it. But what about silver, gray, etc.

I would put it in the dark category also. My bike is Italian Red and looks sharp with a coat of #26 on it.



Metallic reds might look better with a shiny wax, though.
