I noticed that a lot of people are buying this 7336 PC is it better than the 7424 or did it kind of just replace it?

Do all the pads that fit the 7424 fit the 7336 as well?

Thanks,

Kevin R.

They are essentially the same machine.

Coast Tool also has a pretty good blurb on the different model numbers.

The actual machine is identical as far as I`m aware. 7424 is marketed as a polisher and the 7336 is marketed as a sander - so the only real difference is the attachments that come with them, which you probably wouldn`t ever use. I do believe the 7424 has the 5" counterweight and the 7336 has the 6" counterweight (please correct me if I`m wrong).

Go for whichever machine you can get the best deal on.

yes the 7336 and the 7424 are the same except the counterweights are different. and i think the 7336 is/was more popular as you can buy it from Lowe`s for about a $100, although you do have to buy the backing plate and pads separately and from another source.

Awesome, thanks guys. I`ll probably just go with the 7336 because I can get it from Lowe`s, then order the backing plate and pads. Will the 6" counterweight work for polishing and all that?

Thanks again,

Kevin R.

The 6" counterweight is actually preferred by most for all configurations, so the 7336 is the better buy all the way around.

Does anyone know of any written or video tutorials I could watch to learn how to use one before I buy one and mess up my paint. :)

www.properautocare.com has some information that could prove to be useful. Select Problem Solving in the left column, pick one of the topics, and select its section dedicated to Orbital (dual-action) polishers.

Be careful around fragile parts and do not drop the machine on your paint. That`s about it when it comes to random orbit polishers.

There used to be a video at Meguiar`s as well...don`t know if it`s still there.

Can i use a 5" backing plate with the 6" counterweight?

Not sure how it`s set up just wondering.

Thanks for all the quick and informative replies.

I still use my PC often and prefer the 6" backing plate with the 7.5" Lake Country VC pads. They allow you to work the product better IMO.
