Hey guys, I need some help making a decision here. I own a cheapie B&D orbital and have always been content using it on cars in good condition.

Enter a 7 year old boat......This boat although is in decent condition, I want to really hit it good to return it to new condition. I am told gelcoat is alot thicker and harder than clearcoat...is this true?

If the above statement is true, would a PC(orbital) with an aggressive pad be enough? Or would I do better with a Rotary on the boat?

I do my boat about every season. I like megs and starbrite polish. Depends on how much "caulking" is on the boat from UV.

I use a wool pad gently with a R/O and follow with Collinte Fleetwax. Repels salt and lasts a long time.

Gelcoat has paint in it.

I have alot of gelcoated carbon fiber on my car and yes it is alot harder than clearcloat. To get it back to new I use my pc along with a agressive pad and polish and then work my down to a less aggressive pad and polish. I personally use sonus pads and 1z polishes.
