I have a black Mustang, and I was wondering what types of waxes/polishes would work good on it.

If your going to prep it right, take out imperfections, Z2 pro looks and outperforms anything. If your familar with polishing we need to know more info about the condition of your paint. I like menzerna polishes (IP and FPII) to prep that paint. Use only FPII if you don`t have a machine, and see if it removes any swirls you have(don`t use circular motions, use back and forth movements if you have no machine). Then wash again, then apply a few winter coats of Zaino. If the paint isn`t in perfect condition and you don`t feel like polishing, try something like AIO (Paint cleaner) and follow it up with a wax product like p21s. If you go this route you will have to wax your car more often if you want it to be protected. If you put a couple coats of Zaino, you will get 6 months of protection.

Most sealants will need to sit on well prepped paint if it`s a black car. Zaino also makes a product that is called Z5 that is more for black paint, but then you can top it with Z2. It`s kinda of perfect because one order of ZFX will treat one bottle of Z2 and one bottle of Z5, or any two bottles of their polish/sealant. The Z5 hides imperfections a little better and has a stronger sun screen, but the Z2-pro is a more reflective product and has recently been upgraged.

Well, we bought the car in the summer, about 4 months ago. And it is an 04, so the paint is in pretty damn good condition. It`s kept in the garage too.

That is the perfect type of car for Zaino. The only knock on that product is that it is so shiney that when you start getting swirls it shows through the sealant. If you went Zaino route I`d skip the polishes for now, maybe just try claying. If your not familar with claying, you just need clay and a lube. Autopiacarcare has a good deal on clay majic and that`s a real good brand. My personal theory is that it`s good to clay a car when you first get it and when ever the surface gets rough. Just keep the surface really lubricated and run the clay along it. never let the clay hit dry surface, don`t be scared it`s not that hard. If you buy a clay set get an additional clay lube they are only 3 bucks. Break the clay in half (save other half in baggy) and only use it three times unless it gets dirty or you drop it, then toss it. I also use this stuff with a good micro-fiber for a detailing spray. It works as good as any fancy 15 dollar spray.

Then wash. Then try your sealant. There`s nothing like a nice waxed, polished black car. I swear I would detail black cars for free, but don`t tell my customers that. Have fun.

:wavey Welcome 98stang04. I`ve hade great success, along with many members of Autopia with 1Z polishes. They are easy to use and yield fantastic results, especially on black. As far as an LSP`s go I like P21s, Victoria wax (Concours), AG EGP. The key here is to polish untill it is perfect. Good luck

it all depends on what you want, what kind of look, durability, ease of use, etc etc. there`s quite a lot of good products out there that can meet your criteria.
