Hey Everybody,

I just got a PC as a gift and want an opinion as to my first try with it.

I have a friend (lets hope he stays as a friend after this :) ) with a pretty marred up Passat that is a black metallic finish. He is afraid to try anything, but offered to let me experiment on it for him. There are no real deep scratches, just a good deal of marring etc from a few years of neglect (it is an auction bought car). It is definitely going to need 2 passes. I was thinking either Menzerna IP/FP or DACP/#80 or SSR 2.5/1 followed by NXTx2 with Natty`s as a topper. If I still have the touch, it should look great. If I lost it well....

I`ve used rotaries before many years ago, and I am comfortable with using a machine, but I only have the PC I just got and haven`t used it yet. I have the Sonus Pads set from Autopia.

I`d be greatful for any recommendations as to polish combos.

I would try 2.5 X whatever gets most of the marring out, then hit it with FP, then NXT x whatever you wish, then natty`s.

#80 is real nice! Doesnt require any additional clean up either. Or you could give SSR2 a shot......This Passat W8 I did several months ago with 80 and UPP......It is a used Passat that was trucked from the Midwest out to Calif. Had salt damage in the carpets, and was quite a mess to begin with !

craigster: here`s a couple threads discussing German paint. I think they`re worth reading

I would use the Menzerna IP/FP combo. I have used this combination with an orbital and achieved outstanding results.
