OK QEW Experts. Here goes:

I tried QEW today for the first time. My black truck was just a little dusty. No grime, etc. I thought that it would be a safe time to test the product. It was very easy too use. (Again, the truck was just dusty.) However, it left a film (noticeable in bright sunlight) that I had to use a QD to get off. I applied the product with a cotton chenille wash mitt and removed it with two microfiber towels. I mixed the solution exactly as directed. I used soft water. Perhaps I should cut back the mix because of the soft water.

Any suggestions other than buy a white or silver truck?

Tom, I use a second bucket with a second mitt and do a rinse before drying...I have a silver car, but I`m pretty anal about it and haven`t noticed any type of residue from it.

I added a little Spray & Wipe & Adam`s Detail Spray to the QEW...as information

What was the temperature that you were working in??

I find QEW works best using a terry cloth towel for the first drying pass, making sure you leave some moisture behind that you remove with a microfiber towel.

BTW, it does take some practice to really get the hang of QEW. It wasn`t until the 3rd or 4th time I used it I was really happy with the results.

Thanks guys.

mtodde, so you actually use clear water to rinse the area that you have QEW`d?

tpgsr, the temperature was about 55 degrees when I was using the QEW. The area that showed the residue was in sunlight -- low winter sunlight. This might have been part of the problem. I didn`t notice any residue on the hood which was in the shade

Scott, why the terry towel rather than a microbiber towel for the first pass?

Yes I used clear water to rinse after QEW`ing. Some folks rinse & some don`t. I`ve done it both ways and it is probably a comfort thing as much as anything...I`m afraid of leaving some sort of residue and dulling my finish. I suppose I should QD afterwards if I`m not doing anything else to the car.

I have not been able to bring myself to use a terry cloth towel on the car since joining Autopia, LOL. Yesterday I brought a nice terry cloth towel out and wound up using it to rest my 2 WW microfibers on.

Tom-the terry cloth towel has a much thicker nap to hold dirt away from the surface.

I just do a quick QD afterwards.
