Well, my car hit 48K on the clock a few days ago and service required included a tranny filter change (2001 Chrysler LHS) so since it is so cold here in MI, I decided I`d take it to a reputable shop near here and have it done. GOOD THING I DID. As I am walking to the office to pick the car up, the tech walks up to me and asks if I had the tanny open recently. I told him no, that I had just bought the car in August and was just having the service done. He said that the tranny had been opened once before and had the filter replaced but whoever did it cut the O-ring in half and used teh wrong silicone on the tranny pan seal. He said that the O-ring, in the condition it was, would cause the tanny fluid to foam like mad and eventually cause a failure.

I do have a warranty on the car but it has a $200.00 deductable. Filter and fluid change was only $80.00 with ATF+4!!!

Funny thing is, I thought it drove perfectly since I got it. It seems even smoother now!!!
