Just bought a 2001 RX300. The dash has a fairly deep scratch that goes through the color (black) and now looks white. The dealer that I bought the car from says their detailer can dye the dash to help hide it. Is this a common practice? I would like to just hide the scratch but not dye the entire dash if it is not needed. It looks like you could take a sharpie and just turn the scratch back to black. I tried this once on leather and it did not work well though (soaked in more than just the scratch). Any thoughts on the dash and the same question for touching up black leather that has been scratched through the color.

Thanks..KW

I`ve had friends that have done there classic cars. It`s really hard to match it up. Even black, because of wear and age. I would just dye the whole thing. That`s what we had to do to my friends `67 Chevelle`s seats.
