Newbie here!!! I am a personal friend of ZaneO on this forum, in fact he has detailed my cars for me and I have seen tons of his work.....SIMPLY AMAZING! I have been unable to even get him to make recomendations on Silver. I have a 2005 Corvette C6 in Machine Silver Metallic. I have about 8 coats of Zaino/ZFX on it and it looks great! I have always used Zaino on all of my cars and ZaneO has opened my eyes to other products. Yes I did use the surch function on Silver and Zaino toppers. Let me throw this one out. I just received my Paste Glaz today and I was planning on using it as a topper per the search results that I got. I am looking for a QD now. Other than Crystal Mist, and recomendations that I don`t have to order? Do any of you have anything better than this combo on this type of silver? I am open to other products (and sealants...zaino is just what I know!) as well so please let me hear your input!!!! Thanks!!!

Paste Glaz looks fantastic on light colors. I also think EX-P can really make silver pop.

4* UPP really made my white car glow, so I`d assume it would also work very well on silver.

Here`s a couple pics of GEPC + EX-P + Paste Glaz on silver:

The best combos I have used in my business on silver and my personal silver car are the following

Klasse AIO, Klasse SG, UPP

or

Vanilla Moose, Final Polish, s100 x2

As for QDs my favorite is Zaino followed by Quickshine. I want to try Megs final Detail this spring after all the gawd aful snow is gone.

Snow eh? It was supposed to snow here but we got lucky I guess. It snowed just south of here but we stayed dry.

I am anxious to try UPP on silver in the spring. No detailing until March :(

Except on my Max that is :) I`ll brave the cold.

AIO + UPP is an excellent combination for silver. In fact, there are many very good combinations that offer a different look.

AIO + SG + Natty`s = for a darkening, very wet look

AIO + SG + Natty`s + #16 = very clear, reflective look that is wet and reveals metallic

AIO + SG + Signature = same as above

AIO + UPP = A combination of all of the above. Very wet looking, very clear, very reflective. Like glass, IMO.

mtodde has been using VM + EX-P recently and he is very pleased with it. SilverLexus says it looks great and I`ll be seeing Todd`s car tomorrow (er, today).

In reality, and contrary to what most Autopians want to believe, there is a limit to the appearance a paint will give. Several of the above combinations are so similar in appearance and I think they`re just about at the limit...just trying to pull out the last .001%! ;)

You make me want to run out and detail my neighbor`s silver Sonata with AIO + UPP right now just to see the results!

Must....resist...detailing temptation...

Well I recently got the best results I have gotten out of my Altima. I used to be a Zaino user myself until I was introduced to other products. Anyways, here is my latest combo on the Altima. This is the best, most wet looking combo I have come up with.

--VM Via Meg`s Polishing Pad w/PC On 6

--Zaino Z2 Via Meg`s Polishing Pad w/PC On 5

--Poorboy`s EX-P By Hand

--Meg`s #16 Pro Paste Wax By Hand

That Altima looks great! I love how white looks in the shade.

Hey, Glenn!! Glad to see that you finally joined.

I also use ClearKote`s Quik Shine. You should be able to pick some up locally. It works well over carnaubas, but so does Z6.

Now quit being cheap and post some pictures!! :)

Happy Thanksgiving.

We are going to be getting on my blazer next....plan on coming to DFW during Christmas with you Porter Cable....I`m going to get some AIO. Happy Thanksgiving to all also...I have 18+ people converging on my house right now! (I`m a 26 yo. single guy with no roomates...not used to all these people!

I`m a fan of the following process:

1. Clay the car.

2. P21S GEPC

3. P21S x 2

4. EF Clear Pearl as a QD

Mtodde and TW85 also know silver real well.

I like Pinnacle Signature for a Carnuba & VM + EX-P is my current favorite combo wise...I`ll finally get to try my EX-P + sample on Sunday...so we`ll see if it changes.

AIO + anything really looks great on silver. TW85`s car looked very slick & wet with AIO + UPP; I have not personally tried it but he has the same car and it looked great. I`m still preferring VM + EX-P though! My car went through 5" of rain sitting Sunday-Tuesday and then was driven 300 miles through 3 thunderstorms before TW85 saw it on Turkey Day.

AIO + EX-P was very nice, and if durability is a concern it may be a better choice than VM + EX-P...it just doesn`t look quite as clear or wet and isn`t quite as reflective on my car.

AIO + Signature was another good combo and both look great by themselves.

SilverLexus has a slightly darker shade of silver and P21S looks wonderful on his car...I`d love to see him try VM + EX-P though for the winter.

As for an alternate QD to Crystal Mist (awesome but expensive product) the Sonus Carnuaba Spritz or as Lee mentioned EF Clear Pearl. If you would consider a QD with no protection give Adam`s Detail Spray a shot...very nice look!

4* UGE and 1Z Lackfinish are very nice for polymer LSPs.

My Cardomain page has some shots of VM + EX-P...PM me if you would like a link to my photobucket page.

If you are looking to try something else besides Zaino, I like Clearkote`s Vanilla Moose and Poorboy`s EX-P:

Or Klasse AIO and 4* UPP:

If you are just interested in a good QD to use after topping Zaino with Paste Glaz, Clearkote`s Quickshine works great on all carnaubas and sealants. Very slick too.
