I have PC 7336SP and I bought the backing plate long time ago from CMA.

I just checked mine and http://www.properautocare.com/velbacplatfo.html, it looks different.

Do you know if they changed it? or/and SHould I get new backing plate? I:m using 6inch one.

If you bought an old, rigid one, you might want to replace it a flexible one.

Regarding the size, it depends on the pads that you are using. I use a 6" backing plate with my LC 6" and 7.5" Constant Pressure pads from Proper Auto Care. It works great. But ANY 6" backing plate (rigid or flexible) may not work well with your pads. Get the one that`s right for your pads.

Dan.

I bought this 6" flexible backing plate from TOL

The foam makes it extremely flexible and works great with the 7.5" LC Variable Contact pads or the Constant Pressure pads.

ok, I think I need to buy the backing plate and pads.

QUESTIONS: which pads (cutting, polishing, finishing) do you use often and how many of them should I buy? do you have any preferable online store I should get pads from? CME? TOL?

I bought my LC pads a www.properautocare (aka CMA). First I got the 6" LC Constant Pressure pad kit with flexible backing plate. Then I upgraded to the 7.5" pads (the 6" backing plate works for both). Since you have experience, I`d recommend the 7.5" pads. They are bigger, have more surfaces, and have a much better and different constuction than the 6" pads.

I got the FBP-6DA backing plate: http://www.properautocare.com/flbaplfordup.html - bottom image on page.

Here`s a 7.5" Constant Pressure kit with the FDBP-6DA backing plate:

Note the images of the 7.5" pads being used by a PC and a rotary.

The orange pad should work for most of you heavier polishing, but you may want to add a yellow pad too. If you will be doing a lot of polishing with medium polishes, you may want to add a third white pad (the kit comes with two). I added a second red pad for LSP because I use both Z5 and Z2 (one for each). I also bought a black pad for glazes, but I don`t like it much. If you use glazes, try the black pad. Otherwise, don`t bother.

Regarding Proper Auto Care, they have very good customer service and prices are reasonable - a little more than some and a little less than others. One advantage is that they have a large inventory of items. Note that the Constant Pressure LC pads are made specifically for them. You can`t buy them at other retailers.

Good luck.

Dan.
