1999 BMW 528i

Most of the right side of the car`s paint has acid rain damage.

Swirls everywhere etc...

The inside was in very good shape, all I did was vacuum, clean with woolite and protect leather with Lexol.

Here is a before picture.

Exterior

nxt wash

autopia clay

ssr2.5 with pilishing pad @ 6

FK1 2180 sealant with blue polishing pad @ 4

FK1 pink wax by hand

Meg`s hot shine on tires

AA on wheel wells

I liked the results so much on the red Ranger tuesday that I wanted to see how this trio would work on black. Too bad the sun was gone by the time I took the after pictures.

here is the hood area that shows the damage - it is also all over the right side, & the roof.

before - right side. You can see the the swirls as well.

after - the swirls are gone, so is the sun :D

The car did have too many scretches though. I was able to remove most of them but some were beyond a PC or rotary.

:up for SSR 2.5

Looks like you`re having trouble getting those wheels clean. Next time you encounter them, try the Grip Tech Deluxe Wheel & Brake Dust Remover Brush.

I have those same alloys and the brush works wonders on it.

BW - thanks for the suggestion (and good eyes) but there is no brush that will get those wheels clean. Nothing that I tried worked. I guess that is what happens when you don`t clean tar/break dust off for 2 years. Client bought is 2 years ago used.

:( That`s such a shame... in 16" form, it`s one of my favorite OEM wheel designs.

What year is the car? It looks like a 2000, but it doesn`t have Steptronic.

I did edit the first post - 1999 and yes it is a shame.

That green BMW is her daughter`s and suppose to be doing it soon. I`ll make sure to seal the wheels well. :D

How would you compare SSR2.5/3 to say #80 and #83? Pretty much the same? Which of the product (Meg`s vs. PB`s) is normally easier to use?

I need something to use in the sun (Poorboy`s) as I plan to go mobile soon, and shade won`t always be an option. `

Get that makita out yet :D? I might have gotten a neighbor friend of mine hooked, and he might be tagging along *if*/*when* we get that detail day set up.

Nice work and transformation. I hope that you will continue doing the upkeep.

I hate etched german and swedish rims... It`s such a shame. If you really want to get them clean, try a high grit wetsanding paper or a scotchbrite pad. Be prepared to polish afterwards, but it will work.

Great results overall though! Those rain spots were gross!

The paint definately has excellent clarity to it now :)

andriver - thanks! - I need money, so I will be detailing. :D

lokman - you are welcome.

MongooseGA - I really like #80 but needs shade(very easy to work with & great shine). SSR2.5 is like #83, but you can use it in the sun. Buy the gallon size and save lots of money. WIth the pc it is much easier to use. I will work on my car and going to take out that makita.

Sean - Those rain spots are still there. The car needs to be repainted. You can clearly see and feel them. Eaten into the paint. I tried to take after pictures of them but somehow they didn`t show. Thanks for the suggestion on the wheels. I started at 8:19 am and finished at 3:00pm. This guy is SLOW!!!!!!!!!!!

So #83 = SR2.5, and #80 = SSR2?

Would you reccomend SSR3 with the PC?
