i just ordered some #16, and would like some suggestions on products i could use before or under it. if it help finish is black.

list of products i was thinking off:

#20

#26

#7

AIO

NXT

EXP

VM

from reading posts, i get the impression that #16 gives a clear super wet look. but will it make black look darker? i have an idea of what i want, but feel a little lost cause i have only used #26 before. i want to darken or deepen the black finish and use #16 for that super glossy wet look.

#16 isn`t going to make black much deeper looking but it will make it look wetter. With black paint, I`d go with VM and #16 for the best look (IMO) and AIO and #16 for the best durability. #20 topped with #16 is also pretty good, but you`d have to wait a day for #20 to cure for best results before applying #16. The other two options require no waiting.

How long does AIO followed by #16 hold up in your area?

ram-going strong when I rewaxed it at 3 months. I don`t let products expire completely on customer`s cars or my own if I can help it, so it is hard to say exactly how long it will last.

ram- The durability will be mostly #16; don`t expect the AIO to contribute anything except prep. You will probably get more than two months out of it, but I`d retop it before it really needs it as Scottwax recommended. It`s an easy thing to do if you *don`t* put it on too thick. You can almost go "SG/Zaino-thin" with #16.

And I`ve yet to find anything that does *not* work fine before #16, there are only subtle variations in how the final look turns out.

I would definately go with the #16! I have a black car that sits outside constantly and I feel reassured knowing that such a heavy-duty carnauba is on my car. The look definately makes you feel as though solid protection is on your car and that it will last!

cheapshot here is a couple pix of mine with #16 over Zaino ( Silver car ) and Klasse ( orange car ) , the only real difference is the lighting. Both are deep and rather wet.

i hear people have had bonding issues applying stuff over vm. i was thinking VM-EX-P-16, does anyone see bonding issues here?

also i have an idea what vm and 16 will do, but what will EX-P do? i know it will add more protection, but as far as looks? will it soften the look, add to to gloss, ect. thanks

You shouldn`t have any bonding issues with #16 over VM. It has worked fine for me. Some sealants may not bond with VM, however.

What will #16 do over EX-P? I`m not sure, I`ve never tried it.

i seem to be leaning toward VM because i tried it, and i think this stuff should come with a caution label "may become addicted". :D

but if i am unsure about bonding, i will skip it. and try VM in spring, when it is warmer, and i have more time to play.

has anyone tried VM-NXT-16?
