I doubt it is chrome, isn`t that an aluminum paint? He even states "Anyway, long awaited, heres the paint..."

Here are links earlier in the thread to shots of it in the process of being painted so it is definitely NOT chrome.

The finish is probably one of the following or a growing number of sprayable chrome products. These product are not cheap starting at about $150 USD a pint.

ChromeFx

MirraChrome

Fantachrome

Cosmichrome

Cool looking M3.

Somewhere on that other fourm he mentions that it has a protective layer over top of it. Im not sure if he mentioned the word "clearcoat" or not.... but that is what it probably has. So it should be a bit easier to maintain... I dont know if you could look at it when its in the sun though. lol

dcswd,

Black base

Clearcoat (wetsanding and polished to a glass like smoothness)

Chrome layer

Clearcoat (wetsanded and polished to a glass like smoothness)

You can candy it as well if you like.

Therefore, it`s a pretty expensive paint finish considering the material costs and labour.

EVERY car at SEMA that had that finish had SEVERE swirls in it. I really do hope that it has some clear on it to "clear" up!
