Folks,
My `92 Grand Am has a strip of "chrome" about half an inch wide almost all the way around the car that essentially separates the upper half of the body from the lower half. This stuff is not metallic. Looks like maybe the chrome, if there really is any, is embedded in some type of clear plastic which has become seriously pitted in numerous locations.
Have tried metal polish, plastic cleaner/polish, wet sanding, etc. but have not had a lot of luck in restoring the luster in a timely fashion.
What is this trim called, what is its makeup, and what is the fix, if any, short of replacing it?
