I have this Subaru that I`ve been driving for a couple weeks now; it`s been really bugging me because it`s filthy, and no one`s detailed it because it`s going to auction next week. It`s a 2002 Outback LLBean with 65000 miles, and I don`t think it`s ever been washed. Never, ever.

Our club had a tech day today, but my club car didn`t need anything, and I still wanted to hang out and do something with the guys. I figured I`d get no garage space, so I decided to try the Ultra Car Care Color Brite, the polish that is complementary to the wax that I wrote up last month. I would have used ColorX, except I figured I`d be working in direct sunlight.

Here is the hood of the Sube after what is probably its first washing:

Now, I`m not going to clay a car that`s getting auctioned. And I`m not going to spend a lot of time on swirl removal. And I`m not going to worry much about tar and bugs. But, I don`t have to ride around with it looking like that!

I used the PC set on 4 and a Meg`s polishing pad, W9006. Used in direct sunlight, the product tends to work "damp" rather than wet; it dries quickly, but stays wet at the point of application. It applies easily and quickly, and wipes off with a Meg`s mf towel with no pressure and no dusting.

Here is a half-way done on the hood shot; I tried to get the break line in the shade for contrast.

The product definitely attacks fading and oxidation, and light swirls. It doesn`t do much for the deeper stuff, but it doesn`t claim to.

Here is the hood after one pass with Ultra Car Care Color Brite. The product is fast working and not fussy to use at all. This is pretty far up there for me on the "results to effort and dollars" scale:

As I said, I wasn`t worrying or stressing this one too much, not trying to create Autopian results, just following good procedure by using clean applicators and good technique. I`d say the results are pretty impressive.

Will my results create "buzz"? Nah. But this stuff is nice and simple, with no perfumes, and it works well in direct sun. I finished up with a coat of the Ultra Finish Super Finish, and drove home feeling much better in a nice clean car!
