I`ve bought a Mk1 MR2 but the tops of the rear wings are faded and patchy.

The colour should be the darker one, the previous owner said he`s polished the darker patch up with t-cut, so don`t know if he`s taken it too far back.

What is the best action for this?

This is the other side, again the paint is all faded along the top of the wing - is it just oxidized laquer?

Finally there is some spotting below the faded paint, looks like something has gone straight through the paint... Or has had some colored polish on there.

Any ideas on how best to sort the above are greatly received.

I`m not very optimistic about fixing those problems with something out of a bottle. In your pics it looks as if you have some bloom under the clear. In another pic it looks like damage right down to the primer...and in another pic it looks like severe staining on top of or maybe even through the clear coat that has oxidized badly.

You may be able cover some of these defects up for a couple of weeks...but they will no doubt return. Looks like a new paint job on this one.

Before you bite the bullet for new paint (which won`t match!), find a qualified detail shop locally and get their opinion on the condition of the paint. Do they think they can `bring it back`? Shouldn`t cost anything for an opinion/estimate.

Those sure are great little cars...
