I have a quick question.

I have purchased from Swissol some leather dye to touch up a few marks on the door cards. Although I don’t have the dye yet (it’s in the post) they have suggested the following process:

- Clean with leather cleaner

- Wipe clean with white spirits or surgical spirit to ensure the leather is 100% clean

- Apply the dye.

Does this sound right, will the “spirit” application cause any damage to the leather?

~ One man’s opinion / observations ~

The solvent cleaning is a necessary part of the prep work to ensure dye penetration. Using solvent on an occasional basis will not harm leather or dry out the stitching, this will only happen if you use a cleaner that has a high solvent or alcohol content(Lexol) on a regular basis.

~Hope this helps ~
