If you do the dash protectant first, the glass cleaner drips on the dash and spots it...if you do the glass first, you invariably bump the windshield with the protectant applicator and leave a big smudge. How do you handle this? Which comes first, the chicken or the egg? Or do I just pick one to do first and be more careful with the second one?

This is *MY* routine:

Clean door jambs

Clean dash, center console and door panels

Dress dash, center console and door panels

Clean glass

Clean and condition seats

Pull out mats and clean

Vacuum interior - I have a long hose and HEPA filter so I don`t get dust blown back in the car

Clean carpeting and extract with ShopVac

Clean kick plates

Clean and dress rubber moldings and weather stripping

Trunk cleaning

I do the carpeting last because I am sitting in the car working on the rest of the car for all the other steps. It prevents dirt from getting in.

I do seats near the end when I know I`ll no longer be sitting on them.

Honestly, I hate detailing the interior - no freedom of movement. :p

I clean the plastic/vinyl first, then the glass, and then just apply protectants carefully around the glass. Carpets before anything else because they are so dusty.
