Detailing Swabs

Can detail swabs like the foam swabs from Top of the Line and the S100 cottom swabs be used to apply and/or remove wax and sealants from exterior paint with out scratching? If not, what do you use in and around exterior emblems?

I just received the variety pack from TOL. I don`t plan on using them on paint, for places like air vents andengine crevices only.
