So I was at Costco today and bought some prepackaged Black Diamond plums.
I get home and proceed to eat one when I notice on the package the following "coated with food grade vegetables and\or petroleum based wax to maintain freshness"
I did notice how nicely the plums shone and decided to put some water over it and it beaded quite nicely thank you. Now I always thought wax fruit was the fake stuff people use to put on thier tables for decoration.
Being the fearless guy that I am I ate one and "dang" it tasted good. One of the best I ever had. In fact I had one more. :bounce
Is this waxing a common practice on plums and what`s stopping me from buttering my popcorn with P21s tomorrow.
I`m just curious to what`s the difference between petroleum based plum wax and petroleum car wax. Any fruit experts here that know this. Yeah I know I got way too much time on my hands. :wall
