View Full Version : First black car in years, questions...

Hey guys. After about a zillion silver, black cars, I`ve come back to the dark side and bought a black 02 996tt with only 11000 kms. Always garaged, very light swirling - very nice paint.

I want a recommendation for either polish or wax. I don`t want to spend my life detailing the car since it will be my daily driver. I want something relatively easy and fast to apply that will last a reasonably long time and look good. Can someone give me an idea of the relative merits of a wax like souveran vs. polish?

Finally, I came upon this idea while washing the car for the first time. I have a large Egyptian cotton towel that I simply draped over the car and gently patted for a few seconds. When I pulled it off, the area underneath was dry and spot free. Unfortunately, some areas of the car dried before I got to them and left water marks.

What if I had a sufficient no. of these towels to cover the car, draped them over, then quickly removed them? Would this be the best way to avoid swirls?

Thanks in advance!
