My brother bought a bunch of tools at a yard sale and in them was a Wen 7" sander/polisher. He knew I was into detailing so he gave it to me. Now I know nothing about this thing. Is it a polisher, is it rotary?:nixweiss The speed on it is 0 to 1600 and it has a velcro backing plate and a wool pad with it. No instructions. I look it up on line but did`nt tell me much. What else could I do, I came to the pro`s. I`ve been wanting to step up to a rotary but could not afford one so this could be it. Let me know what you think, and thanks for your time.

A rotary is a polisher in a sense. Plug it in and turn it on, if it straight up spins its a rotary. I`m not sure if you are familiar w/ the PC but if you are if rotates like a PC then it is a Dual action which is safer for your paint if you are inexperienced w/ a machine. The way it sounds with the speed settings, it is a rotary. Post a pic if you can.

Hey General Lee, thanks for the quick reply. I have a P/C, pluged in the Wen, its a rotary. Do you think this will be a good one to learn on? It is variable speed, 0 to 1600, with a screw lock on the trigger to keep it from going faster than you set it. I`m going to do a search on rotary usage to get some learning idea`s. I`m wondering if the speeds are ok. This is a picture.http://a1672.g.akamai.net/7/1672/116/20040701/www.ritzcamera.com/graphics/boatersworld/products/176971653.jpg What do you think?

I`m not at all familiar with the Wen. But this search (http://www.autopia.org/forums/search.php?s=&action=showresults&searchid=458057&sortby=lastpost&sortorder=descending) will give you a few focused threads, and this one (http://www.autopia.org/forums/search.php?s=&action=showresults&searchid=458059&sortby=lastpost&sortorder=descending) will give you over 100 posts. I`m sure other folks will chime in here, too. :up
