Detailed my bro`s VW Golf III. It`s a single stage (I think) w/o clearcoat that had medium oxidation and some water etching that I couldn`t take out completely (ran out of 3MFCRC). Instead I used #9 with a yellow pad and it worked for most of the oxidation but some was just too deep and it was taking way too long. I applied NXT by hand then buffed it off after 15 minutes. I`m very impressed with the results. The yellow got deeper, made the left over oxidation unnoticable and the finish was very reflective for a light colored car.

Cliff Notes:

Dawn wash

Mother`s Clay

#9 x 2 (yellow pad on 5)

NXT x 2

Eagle One A2Z on wheels and tires

Meguiar`s Endurance Tire Gel

Stoner`s Invisible Glass on windows

Ginster Yellow is one of my favorites. You should redo the GTI when you have the all right stuff.

You might be a little disappointed. I find myself NXT`ing every weekend to keep the finish beading. I do not have a garage so my finish isn`t as well protected as I would like.

BTW that is a nice Golf.

I`m now just a couple days over two months with NXT on my RX330 and it still looks great, feels slick and beads water like crazy. Been washed 8 times and rained on at least 3 times a week. I don`t have any problems with it`s durability. It seems better than most of the carnauba`s I have used.

I have topped nxt with #16 and have had fantastic results. I suggest anyone that durability is an issue for should do the same.

One of the more sano Golf`s I`ve seen in awhile. Too many of them get tarted up. This one is nice and restrained which lets the color do the talking.

Carnuba will evaporate in the sun as surface temps of paint will reach beyond 150 degrees, depending on color..... A good carnuba might last 2 weeks in the heat, then it is history....

Actually the temp is at least 180 degrees F for carnauba. Here is a DSC thermography analysis that shows its melting point to be 83.1 C.

Products like #16 hold up to the heat very well. I frequently get at, the very least, 8 to 12 weeks out of #16 even in the hot summers on black finishes. Likely this is due to the fact that most carnauba waxes are blends.

I have some #26...should I top NXT with it?
