I have used two different Edge 2000 Pads Designed for the DA (PC):
The Yellow Medium Cut Pad and the Blue Polishing Pad
Both pads are double sided and are packaged in a heavy duty plastic bag.
The first thing I noticed was that the balance of the PC was different. It was a little harder to keep flat without using the side handle. I think this is in part because the pads are stiffer than the previous pads I was using. Once I became used to the new feel, the pads performed very well.
Because I have a tendency to apply too much pressure, I worried that the metal adapter would hit the paint, but that never happened.
The advantages of these pads and this system:
1. The pads retain their shape better than any foam pad I have used.
2. The polish /compound remains on the pad surface which means less product usage, more even coverage and easier pad clean-up.
3. The cost (17.95 list price) is about the same as two single faced pads.
4. The Quick Connect Adaptor requires some pressure to depress the button, but once the pad is locked on, there is no fear of it flying off, like with the Velcro Systems
5. If more aggressiveness is required the same pad can be transferred to a rotary in seconds and the pad is centered perfectly each time.
The disadvantage of these pads and this system:
1. The vibration is greater at speeds over 5 on the PC.
Over-all … I highly recommend the Edge 2000 system provided the PC is used primarily at speeds of 5 or less. This is an excellent way to get started and be able to use the same pad on a PC and a rotary buffer. One of the best aspects of this system is the outstanding customer support received from Aaron at Dedication to Detail and Dwayne at Premium Auto Care.
