PC vs. cheaper alternative?

Hey all



Besides being variable speed, what is the difference between buying a PC polisher ($$$$) and a cheaper brand like a Simoniz 10" random orbit polisher?



The Simoniz is one speed - 2400rpm, so I guess that is a difference. I am not going into the detailing business, and just want something I can use on my own car with decent results. Will a cheaper polisher be ok? What is the real difference?

The simonize style one speed cheapies are good for applying wax only. They dont have the power to make good use of abrasives. They cant apply the speed, friction, and heat needed top break down most polish/compunds.
