I`ve recently started using Zaino products and specifically enjoy

using Z2/Z5, ZFX and Z6. it gives an excellent shine that lasts a long time! Although I use the Z7 (wash) with good results, I had previously used Meguiar`s Gold Class Car Wash Shampoo & Conditioner and have quite a bit of it still on my shelves. I would like to know if I can use it with the Z2/5/6 combination without difficulty?

Along the same lines, I have a quantity of Meguiar`s Quik

Detailer too. Same question as above...can use it with the Z2/5/6

combination without difficulty?

Thanks!

They won`t cause a problem, but they won`t give you optimum results.

I agree with Zane O. The Zaino Product line is formulated to work optimally as a unit.

Doesnt the Megs Quick Detailer contain carnuba that would prevent further applications of "Z"?

This is the kind of question I have been trying to get solid answers for. I was always under the impression that you had to remove ALL oils prior to applying Zaino. Recently I heard though that Sal himself has suggested that you can use 3M SMR and immediately follow that with Zaino without first removing the oils in the 3M SMR. This is where the confusion starts for me. If you can apply Zaino over 3M SMR than what else can you apply it over.

If you don`t think that 3M SMR has oils in it than take a look at the MSDS.

To respond to my own question.....

When I posted this question here, I also sent a message to Sal Zaino directly. I posted the question here as well because, to be honest, I didn`t expect such rapid response from Sal. Well, I was wrong. He sent a message back very quickly. I thought I`d post his response here:

Yes, you can use any other Car Wash for that matter.

They will not hurt the durability of Zaino Show Car polish.

This reason I specify to only use Z-7 Car Wash. It is specifically

designed for my polish products and is a really great product. It will

Clean 100 times better than any other Car Wash. Z-7 will

reinforce the polish system each time you use it. It contains UV-40, a

lubricant to resist scratching from dirt and Show Car polish to add

gloss. It is optically perfect just like my polish and will not leave a

detergent film like other car wash products leave. If you use another

Car Wash

make sure to Z-6 the car after you dry it to remove the detergent film

left

behind by

Brand X Car wash....

No!!!!. Please Do not put any other detailer on top of Zaino.

Zaino Show Car Polish is 99.9% optically perfect. Do not put anything

on

top of Zaino except Zaino. That would defeat the whole purpose of my

product.

Z-6 and Meguiars detailer are two completely different products.....

Stay away from other brand Quick detailers. They are not

compatible with Zaino. Most of these product are just water, propanol

and silicone oil, they will leave a film on Zaino and detract from the

optical clarity.

They will also make your car more prone to dust pickup. Plus the dust

will stick to your paint finish. Dust sticking to paint = Swirl Marks

&

fine scratches.

Z-6 "Gloss Enhancer" spray was designed for use over Show Car polish.

It will bond to Show Car polish and increase gloss, light

reflectivety,

durability and provide the antistatic effect.

Z-6 can be used immediately after removing Z-2 or Z-5 polish for an

extra Gloss Boost. Or you can use Z-6 right before you apply your next

coat of polish. Most of my customers use Z-6 right after the polish

removal and then before they apply the next coat of polish, to remove

any light dust. Either way is up to you. Z-6 is also a great quick

detailer between car washes, to remove light dust and soil, bug

dropping

and any water spots.

Z-6 really helps give a three dimensional look. Its antistatic formula

will reduce dust and dirt pickup by 60%. Use Z-6 very sparingly, less

than one ounce will do your whole car. Very lightly mist only the

center of a 1 foot square

section on the car. Immediately buff with a 100% cotton towel until

dry.

You will feel the surface get slicker and slicker. Turn towel

frequently. Repeat on next section until entire car is finished. Do

not

let Z-6 dry on car. If Z-6 drys by itself just reapply Z-6 to affected

area and rebuff until completely dry. Then get the sunglasses out.

Quik Detailer contains no Carnauba wax.

And just to add to that...

Quik Wax does contains some Carnauba Wax

NXT Tech Wax contains no Carnauba Wax...

No apologies needed, I just wanted to do my best to clarify.

I get similar questions every Saturday over quick detailers.

Didn`t you do a little test with Klasse Sealant Glaze and Saran wrap in order to offer insight to this question?

Yes, I did, it dried milky white. In fact, nothing I have tested dries 99.9% optically clear.

Bret, with all your experience and first hand knowledge, can you add anything insightful?

Me thinks Sal is a busy chemist, who lets his assistants handle the emails. I doubt that reply was from Sal himself.
